Joseph Calleja is a Maltese Opera singer who was born in 1978. He started his singing carrier at the age of 16. With Paul Asciaq as his vocal coach, he made his first professional debut at the age of 19 as Macduff in Macbeth.
After only 17 years in the business and at the age of 33, he has sung 28 leading roles in some of the most prestigious stages in the world. Joseph Calleja has also recorded 3 solo albums. His last album debuted as the best selling vocal album on the core classic charts of Germany and UK
On the 2nd November 2012, the University of Malta presented Mr. Joseph Calleja a Doctor of Literature Honoris Causa in recognition of his achievements as one of the world's finest tenors.
