A Magical County for a wedding all year round – Malta Malta Malta

Thank you very much for the encouraging e-mails that we have received on our last post. ‘A Romantic wedding in Malta’.  Well it was a fun filled day for the bride and groom and the weather turned out to be absolutely perfect.  Well, but guess what… that was not a summer wedding.  Actually that wedding took place in October.  Yes while most of Europe was either flooding or experiencing wet weather, here in Malta  it was sunny and hot.  Actually by the end of their stay here, the bride and groom ended up going back home with a tan.

So the weather is another reason why I, as a wedding planner, believe that Malta is an ideal country for a destination wedding.  You simply can count on your fingers the number of wet and cold days in this country.

So what else makes Malta an ideal wedding destination? I think here it is better to put them in point form

  1. The wedding Venues – The selection of wedding venues is a lot and varied – Valletta wedding venues, Historic Wedding Venues, Sea View wedding venues etc.  Plus you will never be more than 30 minutes from your hotel.
  2. The price – Malta offer great value for money when compared to most wedding destinations
  3. The weather – Almost 365 days of sunshine a year
  4. Civil wedding – You can actually get legally married here and the wedding will be valid when you return back in your country
  5. The food – With the right guidance you will be in for a gastronomical delight
  6. Talent talent and more talent – With the right help you will get amazing floral artists, singers, hairdressers and make up artists for your big day all at very good prices.

If you require any help to plan your wedding day here, please do not hesitate to contact us. I, as a wedding planner, will be more that delighted to help you design your big day here in Malta. So visit Pearl Weddings Malta and contact us by filling the contact page.

Now, as you followers requested, I will include some more photos of this wedding.  You can see the joy and happiness in the eyes of the bride and groom in almost every photo.

Making your Wedding a Luxurious and Unique Wedding (Part 2)

wedding planner malta - ice-cream cart

Hope you enjoyed out first part of how to make your wedding a luxurious and unique one. Today I will include another 5 tips that help to make your wedding more exclusive.

Marching down the aisle

A choir at the church is always a good idea throughout the ceremony.  However a more original way to use your choir is to have them walking and singing before the bridal part down the aisle.  Then once they reach the end of the aisle, they will take their designated place for the ceremony.

Table Centerpieces

The table centerpieces are generally used as a focal point at the reception.  Thus try to choose a centerpiece with a different color and design from the rest of the table accessories so as it will pop out. Do not be afraid to be bold and match the color theme of the centerpiece to your overall wedding theme.

Another way to use centerpieces is to incorporate them with the table design, so as the focal point will not only be the centerpiece but the whole table.   Choose colorful and designed tablecloths; match the tablecloths with equally bold napkins and glass chargers; have colorful and matching nameplates and table numbers.

Childhood Treat

Introduce a fun factor in your wedding.  Try to incorporate a shock factor by for example having something usually considered informal at your formal wedding. A very popular idea, which never seems to stop amazing, is to have an old-fashioned ice cream truck or bicycle coming up the reception to serve guests with ice creams and ice-lollies.

A Favor to Remember

Your guests will love to have a photo of themselves professionally taken at your reception .  So ask the photographer to take a snap of all the guests together with their loved ones.  Ask the photographer to print these photos during the reception and with each photo attach a thank you note.  Surprise the guests by having these photos displayed at the exit and give their photo as they exit the venue. If you want to add a bit more of wow factor.. have personalized frames done for the occasion and give your guests a framed picture together with the thank you note.

Wedding Planning Tips Part 4

Welcome to the 4th and final part of our wedding planning tips.  Hopefully by now we have set you in the right timeframe to plan your event.

Set-up Times

Keep in mind that the venue has to be set-up before the event.  The flowers, decorations, food music equipment all need their set-up times.  So make sure that the venue is at least available from the morning before the wedding.  Never agree on set-up times of one hour before the wedding.

The Legal Stuff

Every country has its own legal requirements to get married.  So make sure to check beforehand what you need to make your wedding official.  In addition, for the documents needed check with your local authorities how long it takes to issue the certificates.  Never rely on online information.  Keep in mind that the information might be not up-to-date.

Make sure you get what is important for you

When it comes to budgeting for your wedding, make sure you do not lose your focus and get what really matters to you.  So make a list of all the items that you wish for your wedding. Categorize each item on the list with a ranking of 1 to 3.  Invest most of your budget on your number ones and cut corners form your number threes. So for example if getting a diamond wedding ring is a must for you, be prepared to cut corners on your wedding invitation budget.

The Wedding Directory

Make a list of contact names and telephone numbers of all the supplies.  Make two copies of it.  A list should be kept by a trusted member of the bridal’s party (preferably a bridesmaid) and the other should be kept by the groom.  I

The Final Count Down

Finally as the wedding day approaches do not get lost on the details.  Now it is the time to focus on  the most important aspects of your wedding namely:

  • Confirm all the suppliers. We generally recommend you to do it twice: 1 month before the wedding and around 3 days before the wedding.
  • Confirm the bridal and groom’s party – This should be done at least one month before the event.
  • Final dress fitting – make sure you do this around a month before the wedding so if there is something that needs further alteration there is time for it.
  • Invites – Send the wedding invites 4-5 weeks before the wedding so as gusts can make their plans to attend the event.

Wedding Planning Tips Part 3

Welcome back to the 3rd part of our guidelines for planning your perfect wedding day.  In this article, we will discuss six more important points to consider:

Kids are They Welcome or are They Not

You have to make a uniform kids policy for your wedding day to avoid hurt feelings.  You have four options to choose from:

  • You can welcome all guests kids to the reception
  • You can have an adults only wedding
  • You can include immediate family only kids
  • You can hire a childcare service or make arrangements with a play school to keep the kids during the reception.

Guest List Tiers

Prioritize your guests into at least 3 tiers.  Immediate family and best friends are the top tier.  The second tier includes the rest of the family uncles, cousins, aunts and close friends.  Finally, in the third tier include work friends, your parents’ friends, neighbors and other friends.

Plan carefully and slowly

Do not rush to book suppliers.  Take it a step at a time and prepare a wedding schedule of things to do.  Do everything in a logical order. For example do not hire any supplier before you booked the venue.  Do not book music until you verified that music can be played at your venue and you have an allotted space. Do not book a cake until you decided on a wedding theme. Do not print the invites until you have decided on your guest list.

Once you have booked the venue start looking at accommodation in the area.  Search for hotels in different price ranges that can accommodate different bracket of guests.  Make arrangements with hotel management to reserve rooms and try to obtain a special rate for the occasion.  However if the hotel imposes a cancellation policy (which includes fees) just look elsewhere.  You do not want to be responsible for rooms you do not fill.

Getting There and About

Do not rely on online maps for directions.  The routes might be wrong or their might be some unexpected delays like road works or some festival.  Best is to ask the venue for the best route. Always test the route yourself before giving it to your guests.

Get it in Writing

Never take anyone’s word.  Contacts might change or forget until your wedding day.  So if you agree anything over the phone or in person with any of the suppliers, just send a confirmation e-mail when you reach home to your supplier.

Wedding Cake Selection Tips

Wedding Planner Malta

The wedding cake is the centre of attraction at the wedding venue.  Generally after the wedding day the thing that guests remember most are the bridal dress and the cake s choosing the right wedding cake is very important.  The cake should reflect your personality and fit within the wedding theme that you selected.  Below we will give you some tips that will help you select the perfect wedding cake for you:

Most bakers can do any shape that you desire, however round and square are the most practical.  They are the easiest to cut and portion and thus will result in quicker service for your guests. Best is to search in bridal magazines and  over the internet for a design that you like, pick a couple, print them and take them with you to the baker that you select.

Baker Selection

The selection of bakers available is vast and the quality and service they offer vary.  So how will choose the best baker?  Well searching and asking around is a good gauge.  So search over the internet for reviews and comments. Also ask for tasters so as you can taste the quality of the cake that you will actually have on your wedding day.

The selected baker should fits your needs and personal preference. Also prior to committing check the contract details and see that all the agreed items are listed in there.  Preferably when it comes to contacts  ask for professional help or involve your wedding planner.

Cake Decoration

Here you can let your creative mind go wild as most bakers can safely decorate the cake as per your specifications.  Just keep in mind that the more details you incorporate the higher will be the price tag.  Typical items that you can incorporate in the decoration are ribbon, flowers and sugar paste designs and figurines.  Whatever decoration you go for, make sure it is not too heavy that it might sink in the cake. Always show your wedding cake design to your wedding planner so as you wil know for sure that your cake will fit the overall general theme of the wedding.

The Yummy Filling

Long gone the days when a wedding cake had to have a fruit filling.  Nowadays chocolate, carrot, vanilla are being selected by an always increasing number of brides.  Choose a filling that you like and that goes well will the food items that you will have in the wedding reception.   You can also mix and match flavors. Preferably ask for assistance to the baker  to guide you on which flavors go well best. Finally when selecting a filling keep in mind the decoration weight that the cake has to withstand.

Size Matters

Prior to committing to a cake make sure you know the number of guests that you will be inviting. This will determine the size and tiers that the cake will have.  Make sure all the guests can have their big  slice of cake, to join in the celebrations and also appreciate the taste of your beautiful wedding cake.

Choosing your Wedding Photographer

wedding planner malta

You are planning everything to perfection for your wedding day but did you spend enough time researching your photographer in order to find the ideal photographer that suites both your style and your budget.

Well below I am going to give you some hints on how to choose your wedding photographer:

Your wedding your style

Well there are two types of wedding photography style for your wedding: the reporter style and the traditional style.  Generally, all photographers will have a particular style form these two which they are more comfortable in.  Traditional style of photography involves posing for the bride and groom and the family.  It is designed to make the bride and groom look at their best and has been used for weddings since the beginning of photography.   Reporter style of photography is a more modern trend in wedding photography.  Basically, the philosophy behind reporter style of photography of wedding is that of capturing the emotions of the wedding.  There are no poses at all.  The photographer will narrate the wedding with random photographs that will capture the mood for the wedding as well as your guests.  In my opinion the best type of photography is a mixture of both so as you will have some posed photos which you can frame and some reporter style photos which will evoke memories whenever you see them.

Meeting your photographer

Make sure that you feel comfortable with your wedding photographer.  Preferably make a photo shot with him before booking so as you will know that you can understand his direction and that you are comfortable and feel at ease with him.

Explain to him the style of photography that you like and see albums with the specified photo shots.  Also some photographer work in team so make sure that the album that you are seeing was produced by the actual photographer that will come to your wedding.  Finally if you are also booking a videographer, ask the photographer if he has some preferred videographer with whom he works.   Do understand that the photographer and videographer has to spend a long time together and if the two do not work well together eventually the final product will not be as good as it should be.

The wedding package

Photographers generally offers a variety of wedding packages to choose from.  The basic service will include covering the wedding day for around 1 to 3 hours.  Other optional services involve a pre wedding photo session, a post wedding photo session and a rehearsal session.  Also another service which is getting popular these days is to cover not only the wedding ceremony but the whole day which will be around 6 hours.

The photo rights

The number of photos that the photographer takes during a wedding varies from photographer to photographer.   Generally it can vary from around sixty photos to over a thousand photos.  Also some photographers will give you a high resolution copy of all the photos so as you can reprint while others keep the photo rights and you will have to ask and pay the photographers for reprints.

Album vs CD

For destination weddings a CD is highly advisable.  Usually to retouch and edit photos for a photographer takes a much shorter time than to produce an album.  Plus albums are heavy and might be dmaged during transportation.

Confirmations and re-confirmations are the key for a successful wedding day.  So make it a point to confirm all the suppliers for your wedding.  As regards to photographers, confirm the booking around three to six months before the wedding and  reconfirm two weeks before the wedding.

Destination Wedding Bridal Grown Guide

 Wedding Planner Malta

So you made up your mind and you are going to some beautiful wedding destination abroad.  A great adventure for you and your close friends that will result in pleasurable memories for all your life.  However, did you think about your wedding dress?  Your partner in crime for your big day, your stunning wedding dress.  For a destination wedding choosing the right wedding dress is a bit of a more of a task and you need to take some extra factors into consideration.  Below I am listing the essentials for your destination wedding dress.

Your wedding location is a key factor for your dress

The weather – Choose light materials if you are getting married in some exotic hot destination.  Remember that you will need to wear the dress for long hours. If it is a morning wedding details on the wedding dress are very important as these will be very visible in the daylight.  For an evening wedding choose a sparkly wedding dress that will glitter under the moonlight.

Is it a sandy beach or a garden? It is important that you know the grounds where you are getting married.  Choose a practical wedding dress and wedding shoes for the environment that you will be getting married at.  Forget a bulky dress if you are getting married on the beach or on some uneven grounds.

Dimensions, Dimensions and more Dimensions

Ok, so you found your dream wedding, with a long trail and you are getting married in a small chapel in the middle of nowhere.  Great idea, but did you check if the chapel is spacious enough? Verify that your wedding dress is not only beautiful but practical for the setting that you chose. You will end up incredible frustrated if you start hooking up to every bench in the church or not being able to walk around comfortably in the wedding venue.

The Fabric

If you are heading for some hot climate go for all natural fabrics that feel fresh on your skin and lets your skin breath.  Synthetic fabrics wrinkle less but will make you sweaty and especially if it is a morning wedding might even end up with a rash.

Now you got yourself your perfect wedding dress but you need to take it to the wedding destination. Overhead compartments in plains are not exactly wedding dress friendly so your best bet is either buying a ticket seat for your dress or else make arrangements with professionals at your destination wedding site to iron the dress.
